Explore new ways to teach the Civil Rights Movement by centering the people who made it possible, especially young people, women, and community organizers. Through lessons, poetry, film clips, primary sources, and classroom-ready activities, participants will examine the struggle for voting rights and its connections to contemporary voter suppression. Designed for K-12 social studies and language arts educators, this interactive workshop includes free teaching materials. Participants will leave with classroom-ready lessons, resources, and strategies they can bring into their teaching.
