August 12 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
National Civil Rights Museum
Join us at the National Civil Rights Museum for an evening of creativity inspired by Black Joy, in Spite of…
Spend time exploring the exhibition before creating your own mixed-media collage inspired by the work of featured artist Ashley Mintz. Her piece, Storyteller, reflects on the influence of her great-grandmother, whose commitment to preserving family stories and cultural traditions continues to shape Mintz’s artistic practice. Drawing from that spirit, participants will be invited to reflect on the people, memories, and traditions that have helped shape their own stories.
No prior artistic experience is required; this relaxed evening is designed for everyone! All art supplies will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring photographs, papers, fabrics, or other meaningful keepsakes to incorporate into their collage. Light bites and refreshments will also be served.
Tickets: $25 includes all materials to make your own collage.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Reserve your spot below.
